Inside the Emergence Customization Pack
This is the Season 1 pack and it is available at launch. The Xbox Store also sells it on its own for $19.99.
- Death’s Rendezvous Marcus Fenix, a Legendary character skin.
- Bloodied Hunter Tai Kaliso, an Epic character skin.
- “Death’s Rendezvous” and “We must improvise,” two Legendary character poses.
- “Death’s Rendezvous” Legendary weapon skin set.
- “Emergence Omen” Rare weapon skin set.
- “Emergence Omen” banner and emblem, and a “Death’s Rendezvous” icon.
The four later packs
Each seasonal customisation pack contains two character skins, two weapon skin sets, two poses and one banner, emblem and icon. The Coalition says the remaining four will be “released as available” and has not attached dates to them.
The studio has named five seasons: Emergence, Legacy, Infiltration, Pendulum and Devotion. Five packs and five seasons line up, but the official wording stops short of promising one pack per season, so treat that as a likely reading rather than a schedule.
Iron and the weapon pack
Iron is the premium currency. It buys individual items in the Barracks or featured offers in the weekly shop. Coins, the earnable currency, buy most of the same things, and The Coalition says nearly every item can be earned by playing. For scale, the Xbox Store sells a 1,000 Iron bundle with 100 bonus Iron for $9.99.
The Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack is marked “for use in campaign only.” Official posts do not list its contents, so we are not describing them here.
Is the extra $30 worth it?
Using the store’s own list prices, the Emergence pack ($19.99) and roughly 1,000 Iron ($9.99) already add up to about $30. The four later packs and the campaign weapon pack come on top. Early access has mostly run its course: it ends when the game launches for everyone on October 6.
One detail cuts the other way: Premium items are one of only three pay-only categories in the game, alongside charity bundles and partnership items. You cannot earn the contents of the five seasonal packs with Coins.
So the decision is about cosmetics. If you mainly want the campaign, or you expect to earn skins through challenges, the Standard Edition or Game Pass gives you the full game. If you plan to play Horde Siege or Versus for several seasons and like the Premium skins, the bundle costs less than buying the pieces separately. Everything in it is cosmetic or campaign-only; none of it changes multiplayer balance.
How to upgrade later
- Open the game’s page on the Xbox Store, or its add-ons list in your library.
- Choose Gears of War: E-Day Premium Edition Upgrade.
- Restart the game so the packs and Iron are granted.
- Check the customisation menus for the Emergence items.
Quick questions
