The 2024 announce trailer

E-Day was revealed as the final surprise of the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase. The trailer shows a young Marcus Fenix in a brutal fight with a Locust, ending with Dom arriving. It had no release date.

The Coalition has said the fan reaction to this trailer shaped the project: the team’s stated goal afterwards was to make the gameplay version of it. The Collector’s Edition statue reverses one of its moments on purpose.

The 2026 gameplay demo

This was the first real look at the campaign in motion, and it opened the 2026 showcase, the first time a Gears game has led the show. It follows the first night of the invasion in Kalona, and Tai Kaliso plays a major part in it.

The video has chapter markers: initial deployment at the start, urban traversal from 1:22, a defensive stand from 3:03 and the game reveal at 6:34. The October 6 release date was announced alongside it.

Multiplayer reveal and story trailer

The multiplayer reveal of July 30, 2026 pairs a Metallica-soundtracked trailer with a developer walkthrough of Horde Siege, the four classes, the four Versus modes and the customisation system. It is the best single video for understanding multiplayer.

The story trailer debuted at gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2026. It introduces Vraahk, the Locust commander the developers call the game’s new big bad, along with his Scorched Legion, the mayor of Kalona and Colonel Trench.

The launch trailer and its song

The Launch Gameplay Trailer arrived on October 1, 2026 with the start of early access. Xbox’s announcement names the music: Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls.”

The same song has a place in the game. One of the four pieces of menu music available at launch is a special instrumental version of it, and a 75-point campaign achievement shares its title. The Coalition has also made a Ride the Lightning weapon skin set in partnership with the band.
