Short answer
Vraahk, a Locust commander introduced for this game
The developers call Vraahk the game’s “new big bad.” He is a Locust commander who was injured in the Lambent War and has come to the surface to wipe out humanity. He leads an elite force called the Scorched Legion.
That much is spoiler-free and comes from The Coalition. Details of the last mission come from a community walkthrough, and they sit under a clear warning further down this page.

What the developers have said about Vraahk
Vraahk was introduced in the story trailer shown at gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2026. On the Official Xbox Podcast afterwards, creative director Matt Searcy called Vraahk the game’s “new big bad” and said the trailer was built to introduce him as brutally as possible.
Campaign design director Raul Figueroa described him in one line: he was injured in the Lambent War and has come to the surface with one goal, to destroy humanity. Searcy added that he embodies the brutality of the Locust.
The transcript renders his rank as “blight commander.” We are quoting that as written; it may be a transcription of a Locust rank from earlier lore.
The Scorched Legion
Vraahk’s troops are an elite Locust unit. Searcy describes them as having spikes sticking out of their bodies, a form of self-mutilation that carries their commander’s brutality into every fight. The point, he says, is that even when you are not facing Vraahk himself, his elite troops make his presence felt.

Spoiler warning: the final mission
Stop here if you want to finish the campaign unspoiled. The rest of this section summarises a community walkthrough, which is less reliable than an official source and may contain errors.
According to that guide, the last operation takes place in Act 5 on a bridge whose controls fail before a vessel called Resolute can pass. An enemy it calls the Impaler intercepts Bravo Squad on the bridge deck and attacks with grenades while closing distance. The guide’s advice is to keep your distance and avoid putting the whole squad behind one piece of cover.
After that fight the squad continues along a collapsing route, passes through a Skytrain and reaches a detonator. One more enemy blocks the way; the guide does not name it. When it falls, activating the detonator clears the evacuation route and leads to the epilogue.
Fan videos of the ending carry titles pairing the names as “Vraahk the Impaler,” which suggests the bridge fight is against Vraahk himself. We have not found an official post that states this, so treat it as likely rather than established.
Is General RAAM in the game?
RAAM is the villain most players associate with the Locust, so the question comes up. Pure Xbox’s review describes E-Day as set “long before General RAAM and lightmass bombs,” which places the story before his role in the first game. None of the official material we checked says he appears.
Searcy has hinted at familiar faces without naming any. Asked about the largest Locust seen in the trailer, he said only that every enemy’s appearance in E-Day is a first for the characters. We are not confirming or ruling out any cameo.
Reaching the ending
- The campaign has five acts; the final mission is in Act 5.
- Two achievements unlock “during Act 5 of the Campaign.”
- “Remember Kalona” unlocks for completing all acts on any difficulty.
- A separate achievement requires finishing every act on Insane.
